Most of us have our own job.. drawing the pattern on the material, cutting, sewing, stuffing, tying bows and one is an artist who draws the faces on the bears. The dolls are used as aids to show children what the Doctors and nurses will be doing...shots, splints, etc. We put labels on them with Made with Love, West Huntsville Church of Christ and the church phone number. One of the ladies prints the labels on her computer. We accept donations of material, and the rest comes out of our Ladies Ministry Fund. Most of us are older ladies, but we are getting a few young ones now, and are grateful that maybe our ministry will continue when we are not able to keep it going. We break for the summer and Christmas and are ready to get busy when the time rolls around again. Even with our breaks we were able to make and distribute over 1000 bears and more than 200 dolls. Hope you enjoy reading about our ministry.

I really enjoy your blog and am so proud of the fact that so many wonderful preachers came from my Grandpa and Grandma Jenkins!!!

Comment on WHAT IS YOUR MINISTRY?

At the Church of Christ where I grew up there was a man, Mr. Mitchel (never knew his first name!) who would read the local papers front and back and if any of the "Maxwell" kids were in the paper, for grades, sports, contest, etc. He would clip the article and attach a note to it explaining how proud he was of us. He would end the note with John 3:16. I am now 26 and I still have all of my notes from Mr. Mitchel and the articles he clipped of me. It was always a blessing to receive these special things from him. He was also known as "Gum Man" because he would always have a stick of Double-mint gum ready for all of us when we would greet him.

Comment on WHAT IS YOUR MINISTRY?

Liked your ministry article. When I read your blog I thought of him. My Dad, Lewis, was always willing to help anyone. I remember him always giving blood when it was needed. He would also sit with sick friends in the hospital, sometimes all night. He would drive the church van on Sundays and pick up the elderly and bring them to church and he even took me along. And he found time to take me fishing on some Saturdays at my Grandpa's farm. What a wonderful example he was and still is to me!

Comment on WHAT IS YOUR MINISTRY?

Jeff, I enjoyed reading your blog. Vulgar! When the TV went digital and they tried to force us all to subscribe to cable or satellite, we opted out. We haven't missed a single worthwhile thing. I recommend it! Have a great one. In His service.
